For a very long time now, since before Windows Vista was code named “Longhorn” during the beta testing - I have been very wary of the release of this new version of Windows. Some call it Microsoft bashing, but I’ve read article after article about how the new Windows Vista will lockdown hardware, force DRM (Digital Rights Management), and take away your ability to do certain things without your consent. I’ve seen other articles that talk about how the new Windows Vista will make you more productive and effective than ever before.

Now that Vista has been officially released, I’ve decided to take the plunge myself and buy a brand new Toshiba Satellite Laptop to test the “Windows Vista Home Premium”. Let’s find out what you can and can’t do with it. I will post everything I learn here on VistaReview.info for you to read. Hopefully it will help some of you make the decision whether or not Windows Vista is something you want to upgrade to or get installed on your new PC or not. Microsoft is certainly not going to give you a first hand unbiased user account of what their Windows Vista experience is like.

Also, let me state for the record that I’ve used every version of Windows ever created, and I did live with Ubuntu Dapper Drake installed on one of my main pc’s for one year.? I’ve built and maintained both Windows and Unix web sites, I’ve written PHP, Perl, and ASP code, and I’ve used both mySQL and SQL Server databases.? I have experience on nearly every OS front except for Mac - but my father does own a new widescreen iMac that I’ve used many times with OS X installed.
