I was disappointed in this book. I have been on Widows since we moved over from DOS. This book seems to be for someone who is no where near that relm.
I see features of W7 on advertisements on TV that I can’t figure out even though I’ve been on W7 since Vista Beta. I still can’t figure it out, and I can’t find it in this book. They didn’t design W7 for me…or maybe they did but just can’t communicate how I can find what I want.
I thought that this would be about the new features that Windows 7 would bring to the table. Guess not.
It seems to be all about the functionality of Windows in general. That’s not what I wanted. I know how to create a folder.
Maybe I misunderstood the intent of the book. I’ve been in IT for over 20 years and am not new to upgrades.
It’s really not working for me. I’ll try the DVD, but I’m not hopeful.

Very helpful book. I like having something that helps you learn a new system easily. These books make it so that almost anyone can understand can learn even without great computer knowedge.

I found this book, along with the DVD, to be most helpful to someone using Windows 7 for the first time. If there is previous experience with Windows 98 or XP, Windows 7 can be used almost immediately, but all the enhancements are not intuitive, and there are many. “Windows 7 For Dummies” makes this transition easy, but it recommended that the entire book be read and the DVD viewed in its entirety to fully appreciate the nuances.

I am sorry. I have just tried several tasks, none of which worked as explained in this book. The index is horrible — virtually useless for finding anything on even the simplest topics. The illustrations are so small and blurry you can barely make them out.
I don’t know what else to recommend, but better to fiddle around yourself than trying to get anything done with this book — which is what I have had to do. I would like to get my money back but I don’t know if it is possible.
