Greetings,

I must agree with your assessment of Vista Ultimate initial impressions. Well, I knuckled under and used the ANYTIME UPGRADE DVD that came with my new Gateway laptop to upgrade to Ultimate. As you stated the first thing you are presented with is a list of vendors from which to purchase the upgrade, I chose SAM'S CLUB since it was the cheapest. Well after paying $145.00 for it I received a confirmation number, indicating that I had purchased the upgrade. I did NOT get any kind of PRODUCT ID CODE whatsoever in an e-mail or through U.S. Mail, nor did I get a copy of the DVD to load from. At this point I suspected that since I purchased the upgrade online that using a cookie or some other method my laptop was 'flagged' as being legal to uprade to Ultimate at this point. I tried to do the upgrade now at least 10 times only to have it BSOD at the very last re-boot of the upgrade process. After contacting MS about this ( and paying $59.00 ) for 'support', they told me that SAM'S CLUB was NOT an authorized reseller of Ultimate and that unless I could produce a PRODUCT KEY for the Ultimate upgrade ( which I never got after purchasing it ) there was nothing they could do to help me !!! Now, bear in mind, SAM'S CLUB was on MICROSOFT'S list of vendors from which to purchase the upgrade !!! WTF !! So now I am left to find out how I am supposed to come up with this Product Key !! On top of it all, I was relegated to try and hash this out with someone who could barely speak English which exponentially complicated matters. I have no ill will towards anyone who may have difficulty with TRYING to speak the English language, I'd just wish they would practice elsewhere than during a technical assistance phone call !! It's hard enough to resolve oddball issues such as this without making it ten times harder with a language barrier, wake the **** up Microsoft ! I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experiance purchasing an Ultimate ( or other Vista ) upgrade online using the ANYTIME UPGRADE disk provided my Microshaft ?
